Occupational Therapy

“Occupational therapy provides practical support to empower people to facilitate recovery and overcome barriers preventing them from doing the activities (or occupations) that matter to them. This support increases people's independence and satisfaction in all aspects of life.”

Individuals may experience a disruption in their skills due to illness, medical conditions, accident or trauma. Occupational Therapists offer a holistic approach considering an individual’s physical, psychological, social and environmental needs, they play an integral role in helping individuals develop skills. The use of activity which is meaningful to the individual is used to improve their health and wellbeing, which could encompass playing, going out and hobbies. Through developing daily routines to improve functional skills, they increase individual’s confidence, self-esteem, sense of purpose and quality of life. (RCOT 2018)
